Crocheted Amigurumi Doraemon

Doraemon is my favourite cartoon character since childhood.  It is an all-time favourite Japanese anime character who was first introduced in a manga series in 1969.  Doraemon is a robotic cat who was sent back in time from the 22nd century to assist a boy named Nobita by Sewashi, Nobita’s great-great-grandson.  He has a pocket in front of his tummy which he can draw different kinds of cool gadgets to help Nobita in various troubled situations.

Doraemon appears to be in blue, but his original colour was actually yellow.  Also, he initially has a pair of ears.  It happened that he was attacked by a mouse during his nap one time and his ears was bitten and eaten.  He was so sad that he wept uncontrollably and his whole body was soaked in his tears, causing him turning into all blue.  From then on, he became extremely afraid of mice.

Few years ago, I found a book with crochet patterns of Doraemon.  It is in Japanese.  I don’t read Japanese, but the patterns are in diagrams which I found easy to follow.  Here I am sharing some pictures of my handmade crocheted Amigurumi Doraemon.  Don’t you think he is too cute?!
