Crocheted Amigurumi Wedding Dolls

Few years ago, my sister stepped into another stage of her life and got married.  I wanted to give her something special and unique on her special day.  So I handmade, from scratch, a pair of crocheted Amigurumi wedding dolls in Traditional Chinese wedding costumes.  I took me quite long to finally come up with crochet patterns for the bride and the groom.  I had a few trials and errors.  However, they came out pretty nice and my sister was really happy receiving them!

Wedding Dolls - Bride

Let’s start with the bride.  The headpiece of the bride was the most difficult to make as it has so many details.

As a traditional Chinese custom, the bride would wear a golden pig necklace with piglets hanging under as a symbol of fertility.

Wedding Dolls - Groom

Now let’s look at the groom.  The groom is much easier to make than the bride.

In the traditional Chinese wedding costume, the groom usually wears a big red flower in his front.

The Chinese character on the front of the headpiece of groom means “double happiness”.  It is a very commonly used symbol of marriage.
